Energetik wins at the Decentralised Energy Awards 2019

Energetik, ENGIE, Kensa Contracting in their projects with Enfield Council won the ‘Domestic’ and ‘Project of the Year’ categories at the Decentralised Energy Awards 2019 on 31 October for their work on heat networks and heat pumps in the borough.

In addition, the Industry Champion award was given to Energetik’s Dennis King, in recognition for going above and beyond in the service of the industry.

Enfield is taking bold action to address the climate emergency, and its Climate Change Task Force is meeting regularly to investigate how the Council will become carbon neutral by 2030.

Energetik was created by Enfield Council in 2015 to deliver four low carbon heat networks, and its Sustainability team has delivered England’s largest heat pump system.

The Deputy Leader of Enfield Council, Councillor Ian Barnes, said: “All these projects form part of Enfield’s plan to address the climate emergency and deliver social, health and environmental benefits to those living and working in Enfield. With the guidance of the Climate Change Task Force, we will promote sustainable design and implement green infrastructure while addressing issues related to fuel poverty which affects thousands of residents.”

Energetik will eventually supply over 15,000 homes in Enfield with very low carbon heat and hot water through a series of heat networks. It currently has four separate operational developments, with the largest, Meridian Water Heat Network, due to come online in the next 18-24 months.

Energetik is fully focused on customer engagement, fuel poverty and the climate emergency.  The company works with customers to help them understand their energy use, manage their spending and explains how its technology is helping tackle the climate emergency.

In partnership with Energetik, Kensa and Engie, Enfield is demonstrating a blueprint for the future of low carbon heating run by local authorities.
